6 Years Old

Dear Antonio,

It's been three years since I wrote on your blog!  We've been so busy and have had so many changes.  Just like you have had so many changes.  You are getting ready to be a big brother!  We are going to have to change the title of your blog from Antonio's Adventures, to Antonio & Aria's Adventures!  Here are some things about you now that your are a big 6 year old!

  • You are in 1st grade.  You love your school and your teacher.  You really like having Drama class.  The drama teacher just texted me yesterday to tell me how great you are in her class.  I'm so proud of you.
  • You can read!  You can read 1st grade level books easily and can pretty much sound out most words so you can read higher books as well.
  • We read every night.  We read one picture book and two pages out of your 100 scariest creatures on the planet book.  We are almost done with the scary book and we are going to move on to your new Minecraft books you got at the book fair.
  • You LOVE Minecraft.  You love to play it on the iPad and really like to play with me or your friends.  You and I had a world called best best best that we had done so much on with gardening and mining, then I accidentally deleted it trying to fix our wifi connection.  You were so mad!  You wish I would play with you for hours each day, but I've been busy getting ready for your baby sister.
  • If you aren't playing Minecraft, you are watching videos of other people playing it.  I get so mad at the people because they say, "Oh my God" too much.  Your favorite video is Jen, SuperGirlyGamer, and some guy.
  • Anytime we get together with Jordyn and Paityn, you want to play Minecraft with them.
  • You have learned to ride your bike without training wheels, but you aren't very confident yet.  I can't wait till your sister is born and we can do more bike riding.
  • You consider everything to take one hundred hours.  If I say it will be 15 minutes, you say, that is 100 hours.  It's silly because you also like to talk about actual time and how many minutes will be in how many hours.
  • I'm pretty sure you are learning your multiples of 9 thanks to Minecraft crafting tables holding nine items at a time.
  • You sleep in the basement bedroom where we all moved in anticipation of your sister coming.  You have a super cool bunkbed with a slide.  You love it!  Too bad your bedroom is so messy right now that you can't actually slide down.
  • We just started a responsibility chart where you get paid 5 cents for completing your daily tasks.  You mostly do good with it, unless you wake up in a bad mood!
  • You love Loki, Quentin's dog and always want to snuggle her even though she is old and doesn't really return your snuggles.
  • You have made some neighborhood friends and like to go knock on their doors to see if they can play.  If they can't, you get really sad.
  • You argue every night at dinner that it's going to be gross before you even try it.  Once you start eating, you are fine.  Quentin says you don't like to eat dinner without getting your beating.
  • You have a special plate that looks like a game that you like to eat off of.  If you get to the end, you get a treat.
  • You like to have a "bednight" snack every night.  Right now, you like to have bologna.
  • If you eat popcorn, you insist that it has shaker cheese on it.
  • You still love ranch and want it with most things.
  • You love the nacho lunchables. You also love eating a hot dog out of your doggie slicer.
  • You have two gerbils, Locker and Whisper.  You bought them with money you got for your 5th birthday.  You aren't very good at taking care of them, but you love them!
  • You started playing tackle football this Fall.  You mostly stand on the sideline and play with the other kids.  You don't seem to mind that you never get to play.  I get so nervous when you go in that you will do something wrong and the coaches will yell at you or that you will get hurt.
  • You have homework every night and sometimes it's a battle to get it done.  It works out best if you do it in the car.
  • I send you a cold lunch in your bento box everyday.  It used to be a turkey sandwich, but lately you want a peanut butter and honey sandwich.  You also take chips or crackers, carrots and ranch, and fruit.  You also have an R2D2 thermos I send with water with Mio flavoring. Daddy gets you hot lunch everyday.  Then we have problems getting your lunchbox back!
  • Football ends this week and you start cub scouts next week!
  • You are excited to have a baby sister.  I'm worried how you will react when you don't have your mommy all to yourself anymore.
  • You run so fast, I really want to put you in track.
  • When you brush your teeth, you like me to sing the ABC's twice, then one more time while you do mouthwash.
  • Your cousin, Halie, lives with us now.  You refer to her as the princess.  We started calling her that on our vacation this summer.
  • You are way better behaved for Quentin then you are for me.  You little stinker!
  • You always want to talk to Grandma and see Grandma.  Now that we live in Andover, you don't get to see her as much.
  • You love your new game Beat the Parents. It's about Disney so I think I should win, but you keep beating me!
  • I'm sad that you are growing up!  You barely want to snuggle with me anymore!  However, I'm proud of the young man you are turning in to!
                                   Love,
                                   Mama
