One Month Old

 photo one month.jpg

Dear Aria,

You are already one month old!  I can't believe it!!!  You are growing too fast!  A few things about you at one month old...

-You sleep a LOT!  You will sleep all day and we worry you won't sleep that night, but you still do!
-You go to bed when we go to bed, and you stay asleep till about 4 am.  Then you wake again at 7 am.  Then sleep till about 10 am.
-Daddy puts a hat on you at bedtime.  He calls it your little baby hat.  It's so cute when he says it.
-You like to have a pacifier sometimes.  You just got a new one for Christmas with a pink bear attached to it that helps it stay in your mouth.
-You don't like your carseat at all.  As soon as we buckle you in, it's cause for immediate crying.
-You are very nice.  (Antonio told me to write this.)
-Your eyes are blue, and Mommy hopes they stay that way.
-People love your long hair.  We hope it doesn't fall out!
-You will lay on your playmat for a few minutes and bat at the toys.
-Sometimes, you will nap in your vibrating chair, but you definitely prefer to be held while sleeping.  Usually if we put you down, you wake right up!
-You like when Mommy wears you in your carrier.  It puts you to sleep.
-You fall asleep while nursing almost every time.  You are a quick eater too!  That makes us happy in the middle of the night.
-You have a bad habit of having a pooptastrophe anytime you have a cute ruffley outfit on.
-You really enjoy bathtime and the warm water.
-You like to be carried around.  You get fussy if you are awake and we just sit on the couch holding you.
-You love looking at lights, so the Christmas tree is your favorite thing right now.
-You have a crazy hand that always escapes from your swaddle.
-You have monkey toes that are so long!
-You have been to Star Wars Episode 1, 2, 3, part of 4, and 7!
-Mommy calls you Princess Aria.  Daddy usually calls you baby.  Papa always calls you Aria Kenobi or sometimes he calls you area.  Antonio calls you sissy.
-You put your little fist by your face a lot.  We call it your thinker pose.

We love you so much!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

We're home!

We were so glad to be home and away from the constant interruptions of the hospital.  We snuggled Aria on our own comfy couch.  We decided an early bedtime would be best.  Aria was so cute in he little swaddle passed down by big brother.  She looked so peaceful in her bassinet by our bed in the basement.

Too bad that didn't last long at all!  Our sweet Aria was up all night!  She would nurse every hour, then we would spend the rest of the hour trying to get her to sleep!  It was a long night.

Luckily the next day, we had our first visitors!  Sky and her girls came by to see our new bundle of joy.

Aria played on her awesome playmat for the first time.  She really enjoyed looking at the toys.

After Sky and her girls left, Quentin had tummy time with Aria.

We were planning to give Aria her first bath the next day after Crystal brought the bathtub, but then Aria spit up all over her pretty hair!  We decided to give her first bath in the sink.

When bathtime was over, she was happy to snuggle up with Daddy!

We spent Sunday waiting on Antonio to get home.  Every time he had called, he would want to see his sissy on facetime, then he would carry the phone around showing all of his family.  Aria took her first nap in her crib.

She enjoyed her new Christmas jammies.

Time to go Home!

The nurse woke me up at 6 am to draw blood from Aria.  I loved this nurse because she suggested I nurse Aria while she drew the blood, which led to no crying!  We promptly went back to sleep.  Next time I woke up I noticed that Aria wasn't under any lights, which meant her jaundice must be improving.  I was just getting ready to call the nurse to ask for the blood test results when she came in and said that Aria had improved and could go home!  She said she had come in a few times, but we were all asleep, so she let us sleep.  Thank you!  She said we were free to go whenever.  I told her we would probably leave after lunch.

We got Aria all dressed in her going home outfit.  Of course she looked adorable!

Daddy went to warm up the car while Aria and I waited in the lobby.  Daddy didn't realize there was going to be tons of ice to scrape!  We had fun taking pictures by the Christmas tree while we waited.

Aria's First Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  We were excited to go home today.  The nurse told us they would check Aria at the 24 hour mark and then we would be able to go after that.  I was super tired from not being able to sleep the night before and from the nurses coming in every hour.

I was so excited to put Aria in her Thanksgiving outfit!

Quentin left for a bit to go get Starbucks and the birth certificate person came.  I was tempted to change Aria's middle name to May instead of Kenobi, but I didn't!  I had teased Quentin I was going to do that, so it was funny that he was gone when they came.  Shortly after he came back the photographer came to take Aria's hospital pictures.  They were so awesome, we had to buy the CD!  I was disappointed when the photographer said it would be mailed in 5-7 business days.  I figured in the year 2015, they could just burn the CD and hand it over.

I took a picture over the photographer's shoulder with my cell, then I made this little card to text to Antonio.

This is how Quentin looked when faced with changing a diaper.

 photo IMG_7968.jpg

I went in to take one bath in the jetted tub while Quentin packed our stuff so we could leave.  When I came out of the bathroom, Quentin gave me the bad news.  Aria's bilirubin levels were too high which causes jaundice.  She would need her blood checked again the next day.  After discussing with Quentin's sister-in-law and the nurse, we decided to stay the night again.  There was an ice storm coming and we were worried about the roads.  They also said that if we brought her in for tests the next day and her bilirubin was still high, she would be admitted to the hospital nursery.  If we stayed, we would all just stay in our birthing suite.  No Thanksgiving meal for us.  Oh wait, the hospital did bring this wannabe Thanksgiving meal in for lunch.

 photo IMG_7988.jpg

Luckily, my parents saved the day and brought us some Thanksgiving leftovers!

It really cracks my dad up that her middle name is Kenobi.  Him and Antonio brought this Obi Wan Kenobi toy before Aria was born.

 photo IMG_3441.jpg

Soon Tony and Lindsey came up with even more Thanksgiving leftovers!

Although, I don't sleep well in the hospital, I had a good view.

We went to bed praying that Aria's blood wouldn't test high for bilirubin in the morning.
